THE PRETTY RECKLESS

On Thursday the 19th August 2010, I went to The Pretty Reckless gig at the O2 Academy Islington, It was one of the best nights of my life! I’m not sure if it was better going to The Monster Ball and seeing Lady GaGa because it was a totally different scene! I went to The Monster Ball with my dad, and we were seated. The Pretty Reckless gig was standing and I was with loads of friends which made it more fun!
I knew it would have been hard to sleep the night before because I love Taylor Momsen, I love her music, her band and her acting in Gossip Girl. To me- she is the awesomest teen celebrity around! So it was exciting knowing that I’ll be seeing her in the matter of hours! So I went to sleep after Family Guy (I just had to watch that!) & woke up at roughly 7am. Got ready and was at the train station at around 8.
So I got to Angel station and I met up with my friends and we got Starbucks and decided to start queuing. We were determined to get front row because WE LOVE TAYLOR MOMSEN so we decided to queue at a crazy time, as we were standing it was possible to get front row. So we started queuing at around 10am & the wait actually wasn’t so bad because of the amazing people we met in the queue line. So that was all good.
Then something unexpected and exhilarating happened. TAYLOR MOMSEN AND HER BAND WALKED PAST US! She was about 1 meter away from me, we all tried getting her attention and omg if she spoke to me i probably would have died, but she did say “hey guys! I’ll be right back”, it was so amazing! So she went in and didn’t come back out. We waited for about an hour when I decided to ask the security- guard standing in front of the doors in which Taylor entered & I was told she isn’t coming back out because she has: sound check, hair and make up, and then some press before the show. That really sucked, but I was warned by one of my friends that she wouldn’t have came out so I wasn’t too disheartened.
A few more hours went by and these people with o2 came out of the doors and did make up and drew X X X X on our arms (it’s on their band logo). Then the doors opened! I got my ticket checked and literally ran two floors up & entered a room with about 10 teenagers clutching onto a barrier. I ran to them and stood beside them and waited for the rest of my friends to get their tickets checked and for them to run up.
They played MGMT’s album while we waited, which got a little annoying because we needed some rock to get us hyped up. Then the supporting act Francesqa came on stage. I didn’t know who were they were before the gig but they were good! Very alive and they were head banging in sync which was awesome. The lights dimmed again and we waited for Taylor Momsen. Around 9.30pm her band came on stage but not her! They gave a short intro and started playing Light Me Up. It was amazing! & then Taylor came on stage and everyone went wild! The atmosphere was amazing, the crowd went crazy throughout the whole thing but particularly in Make Me Wanna Die because that hit #1 in the UK Rock Chart. Also because that was the only single out.

I was taking photo’s throughout the whole thing and I also took some video’s through my iPhone, but those weren’t very good quality and the audio didn’t respond when the base was too high, so as it was too much for my phone to handle some of the video’s I took are silent. At the end of the gig Taylor switched of her amp and went of stage, and the drummer came to the edge of the stage and threw his sticks into the audience and I caught one! I couldn’t believe how lucky I was to have caught and kept the stick.

The concert was over and I was really tired and couldn’t wait to get home! I was clutching onto the stick when leaving the venue and there my dad was standing waiting to pick me up. It was the best night of my life so far.
